Identity - Who Am I

We do a weekly mentorship group with a small group of young women. Recently, we were discussing the thoughts we have about ourselves and how to renew our minds. I gave them my book, Unveiled Faces, several weeks ago, which teaches the process of mind renewal, and we worked through the process together. Ultimately, my desire is for them to see for themselves who God says they are and to grow in that true identity, putting off the things of this world that weigh down the carnal mind and turning (repenting) towards the truth of how God sees us.

This week, we did a discovery Bible study on 1 Peter 2. After asking what this chapter has to say about humankind, we examined it verse by verse to see what it reveals about the identity of a Believer. Did you know, this one chapter alone contains nearly 40 identity statements within it? Each one is so powerful on its own. Read 1 Peter 2, then take a moment to declare these over yourself, starting each one with “I am” or “we are.” (Ex: I am saved, I am a temple of the Holy Spirit, etc)

Could you feel peace being restored and lies breaking off? These are powerful truths, and ones I recommend declaring over yourself and your family daily to help reset the mind to having the mind of Christ. As we declare the Word over ourselves, strongholds of the mind are broken, and we find a greater peace in Christ. Eventually, this begins to play out in every aspect of our lives as we live from His love and not for His love.

Blessings,

Cherish
